GED Test Requirements
- Resident: You must be a resident of the Mariana Islands.
- Age: You must be 19 to take the test, but may take the test at 17 with exceptions.
- Enrolled: You cannot be enrolled in an accredited high school or be a high school graduate.
- Cost: $30 (per subject) or $120 (all subjects)
- Score: 145 (minimum)
- Accommodations: You must apply for disability accommodations through the GED Testing Service page.
HiSET Exam Requirements
- Resident: You must be a resident of the Mariana Islands.
- Enrolled: You cannot be enrolled in an accredited high school or be a high school graduate.
- Age: You must be 18 years of age. Students who are 16 or 17 can take the test if they provide documentation of withdrawal from K-12, and will not receive certificate until 18th birthday.
- Requires test preparation and authorization prior to testing.
- Cost: $12 per subject
- Score: 8 in each subtest, combined score of 45; minimum of 2 on the Language Arts - Writing essay

After you pass the test, the territory of the Mariana Islands will award you a HSE certificate that will show you have achieved the same level of knowledge as a high school graduate.

For the Mariana Islands GED, you have to wait 90 days before you retake a test after taking it once. After the 3rd retake, you have to wait 60 days before testing again. There’s no yearly testing limit.
For the Mariana Islands HiSET, you can retake the HiSET exam 3 times during a calendar year. Contact your test center for more information.

For the HiSET test, you must be 16 years old. Those who are 16-17 must not be enrolled in a secondary school program and must not have a diploma.
If you pass the test before you are 18, you will receive a letter of intent that states the diploma is being held until you 18th birthday.
